Introducing The CEU Shop!
The CEU Shop is a genetic counseling continuing education provider, established in 2024. Our goal is to offer programs that are interesting, affordable, and can be completed on your own schedule, (mostly) not in front of your computer. We want our courses to be enjoyable to complete – such as reading a real book on your couch or on the sideline at your kid’s soccer practice, or listening to an audiobook while commuting or going for a walk.
The CEU Shop currently offers “book clubs” that are approved for NSGC Category 1 CEUs and we look to expand our offerings to include additional book clubs and possible “movie clubs.” If you have any ideas for non-fiction books or documentaries that would meet genetic counseling continuing education standards please reach out and share your thoughts. We would love to hear from you!

Meet Brittany,
Founder
My name is Brittany Mahalick and I am a certified genetic counselor, living in Michigan. I graduated from the Northwestern GC program in 2013 and have worked in prenatal clinical roles and in sales roles for genetic testing labs. When my son was diagnosed with autism, I stepped away from my job to focus on life at home.
During this time, I wanted to learn all about autism AND I wanted to get NSGC-approved Category 1 CEUs to maintain my certification AND I did not have an employer to cover the costs of my CEUs AND I did not have a lot of time to sit in front of a computer screen and watch recorded webinars. I wanted a way to be able to listen to an audiobook about autism while driving to speech therapy, I wanted to get CEU credit for that time spent learning, and I wanted all of that to be affordable. And so, The CEU Shop was born!
I am passionate about autism education, breaking down my own & others’ ableist biases, and the patient & family experience in healthcare.

Meet Cory,
Managing Director
I’m Cory McHale, a board certified, licensed genetic counselor located in Illinois. I earned my Master’s in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in 2013, and met Brittany when we both started our first jobs! I have clinical experience in prenatal and oncology genetics, as well as laboratory sales, and clinical services. I am passionate about educating patients and providers to assist in making informed medical decisions.
I currently spend most of my time with my 3 children, and I have a growing interest in whole-person healthcare. After cheering Brittany on from the start, I am very excited to join The CEU Shop.

Meet Alyssa,
Contributing CGC
I’m Alyssa Griswold, a board-certified genetic counselor and graduate of Bay Path University’s Genetic Counseling Program (Class of 2025). Before entering the field, I worked in research labs focused on pediatric neuro-oncology, carrier screening, and antibody discovery, where I developed a strong foundation in molecular genetics and patient-centered research.
I’ve been working behind the scenes on several projects for The CEU Shop and am excited to continue helping the platform grow. I’m passionate about supporting and advocating for patients both within and beyond the genetics clinic.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature, exploring new cities, and participating in advocacy walks and events. When I’m relaxing indoors, you’ll usually find me watching movies, listening to audiobooks, or doing puzzles.
