The concept of “Let Them” has inspired many. While The Let Them Theory book by Mel Robbins offers one perspective, we also acknowledge Cassy Phillips, author of the impactful poem Let Them. Both women have contributed meaningfully to conversations around boundaries, self-trust, and personal growth.

General Description:

The content of this session is the book The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins published in 2024. Per the publisher: In The Let Them Theory, Mel Robbins teaches you how to stop wasting energy on what you can’t control and start focusing on what truly matters: YOU. Your happiness. Your goals. Your life. Robbins explains how you can apply it in eight key areas of your life to make the biggest impact. As you listen, you’ll realize how much energy and time you’ve been wasting trying to control the wrong things—at work, in relationships, and in pursuing your goals—and how this is keeping you from the happiness and success you deserve. Robbins shares relatable stories from her own life, highlights key takeaways, relevant research and introduces you to world-renowned experts in psychology, neuroscience, relationships, happiness, and ancient wisdom who champion The Let Them Theory every step of the way. Participants will read the book or listen to the audiobook in full.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss how, prior to the Let Them theory, one has tied their happiness to other people’s behavior, opinions and feelings.
  2. Identify how the Let Them theory can allow one to stop giving away their power and start creating a life where they come first.
  3. Apply the principles of the Let Them and Let Me theory in eight key areas of one’s life, including their profession of genetic counseling.

The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) has authorized The CEU Shop  to offer up to 1.06 CEUs or 10.6 Category 1 contact hours for the activity Book Club – The Let Them Theory. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) will accept CEUs earned at this program for the purposes of genetic counselor recertification.
